Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away…never to return. So… While we have it… it’s best we love it… And care for it…. And fix it when it’s broken…. And heal it when it’s sick.
This is true… For marriage…. And old cars…. And children with bad report cards….. Dogs and cats with bad hips…. And aging parents….And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.
There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special…. And so, we keep them close!
Good friends are like stars…. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there!
People are made to be Loved and Things are made to be Used.
There is so much confusion in this World because People are being Used and Things are being Loved.

A KEEPER

From an email I recently received – author unknown.

Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away…never to return. So… While we have it… it’s best we love it… And care for it…. And fix it when it’s broken…. And heal it when it’s sick.

This weekend, Rubbermaid entered my life in a big way.  

1.  I got the Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids for my kitchen storage and I have to tell you, they ROCK!  I gave my niece about 10 containers and lids and in that same space, I can now store the 20 piece set of Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids that include the Produce Savers, Lock-Its, and Premiers containers.  They all have the Easy Find Lids that snap to the bottom of the container for easy storage.

2.  We also purchased the Rubbermaid Big Max 7×7 shed at Home Depot to store the items that we always use outdoors.  They currently live happily in our garage but they are inconvenient to get to without moving the car, etc.  This shed is amazingly easy to build (took 2 of us about 4 hours, but now that we have built one, we could do it in half the time).  The instructions were easy to use and the parts are marked well. AND we didn’t need divorce papers afterwards.

If you haven’t taken a vacation in a while, take it from this Certified Professional Organizer®, it’s time!  We just returned from a 2-week vacation – one week on a cruise and one week in FL on the golf course.  Now I’m refreshed and ready to rock and roll!  Time away is like the reset button on life.

The thing that makes simplicity so difficult is the number of options that are available.   This applies to choosing your car, cereal, potato chips, toothpaste, clothes, and the list goes on.  

Over the holidays, I found a laptop carrier at the mall and the only one they had was damaged.  I went home and spent a few hours online trying to buy the same unit.  This should have been really easy but I found it at several locations and each offered it with different colors, prices and shipping.  

I ended up getting a red rolling laptop carrier (same one as in the store but red – digging that) and paid less than in the store because the place I bought it had a Lowest Price guarantee and beat another site’s price by 5%!  The big question is, in wasting a few hours, how much did I really save? (Well, I like red so it was worth it.)

In my book, The Power of Simplicity, the subtitle is Choosing to Live Your Life on Purpose.  The keyword there is Choosing.  So much of our day is spent making decisions and choices.

Every year, I have a theme for the year.  2008’s theme was “The Year of Transformation”.  During a 2 year illness that ended this past August, I decided last January to transform my business to a more virtual business that offers value out the ears.  

In doing so, I have rolled out The Clutter Rescue Course™ and the accompanying workbook, added phone coaching to my list of services, residential organizing packages, CorporateConnect, and I began delivering teleseminars and webinars. These additions have allowed me to offer way more value to my clients through more cost effective means for them.

For me, 2009 is “The Year of The Package”.  I want to take all of our products and services and offer them in packages to deliver even more value.  This year, look for The Mess Kit™, coaching packages, speaking packages, and much, much more!
