The efficient person gets the job done right.

The effective person gets the right job done.

Think about that for a moment.  Which one is better?  (This is kinda like the chicken/egg argument!)

Which one of these describes you?

  1. I like to think I’m both. (I also like to think I’m 35.)

  2. Good answer, Jay! (Especially thinking you are 35)

  3. Actually, the effective person gets the right job done right. Effectiveness breeds efficiency. Plus, I don’t care that I’m not 35.

  4. To be efficient, one must first be effective. Efficiency is *in relation to* the rightness of the job done.

  5. The two are equal neither are they extricable linked. The efficent person can miss the forest for the trees. Narrowly thinking that time saved and trick equal a life well lived. To be effective means to see what is worth doing and doing it. Think of it this way. What kind of person do you want to be –The mother whose children remember how clean her kitchen was or the one who remembers cooking and laughing with mom? The effective mom is organizing to rack up moments worth remembering. So effective isn’t the better answer it is the only answer.
