Organizing Tip: Changing winter to summer wardrobe…

HangersYou are about to embark on the winter to summer wardrobe mission.  Here’s a tip that will help you more at the end of the season than you ever thought possible:

As you put your hanging clothes into your closet, put the hangers in backwards (hook on bar from back to front).  Throughout the summer season, as you wear something, return it back to your closet normally (hook it on the bar from front to back like always).

At the end of the summer, whatever is still backwards, you know you didn’t wear and you can more easily make the decision to donate it or give it one more season.

  1. What a great idea, Patty! I struggle every season with knowing what clothes to give away and what to keep. I’m going to begin using the backwards hanger tip
    today!

I’m going to pass this tip on to others, too. I work with people struggline with depression and grief, and one of the things that is most difficult to do while depressed or grieving is to make simple decisions in life such as cleaning out a closet. This tip will help thousands. Thank you so much!

  2. This may be the biggest tip I have ever received! Thanks so much! I am already doing the one in/one out purge idea after I return home from shopping. But the backwards hangers is the best!
I can’t wait to see exactly what I don’t use at the end of this winter season. And, I love to hang EVERYTHING, so this will be an invaluable lesson for me!
    Thanks so much, Patty
